Февральская революция 1917г. внесла изменения и во внешний вид орденов. Так, с двуглавого орла были убраны короны. Большая корона уступила свое место банту из золота, покрытого голубой финифтью. На звезде вместо орденского девиза появились четыре лавровые ветви, покрытые зеленой эмалью.
The Order
of the White Eagle
After the Polish Kingdom was annexed by the Russian Empire in 1815, Alexander I started to bestow the Order to the natives of Poland. On November 17, 1831, following the Polish Rebellion, Nikolai I, by his Imperial Decree, added the Order of the White Eagle to the Russian Orders in the capacity of an Imperial Order, and, from that time on, it was awarded to Russian citizens. The new Statute was not written, although the badges of the Order received modifications. The Polish eagle was superimposed on the Russian black double eagle, and the Russian Imperial Crown took the place of the Polish Crown.
On March 17,1835, the Order of the White Eagle was graded right after the Order of Saint Alexander Nevsky in the general order of precedence for the Russian Orders.
From August 9, 1844, when the Order was bestowed to non-Christian holders, the Star of the Order was decorated with the Imperial Eagle instead of the Cross.
From August 5, 1855, badges of the Order, awarded "for heroics in combat against the enemy", were finished with two crossed swords: on the Badge, they were placed in the upper part right below the crown, on the Star — in the middle.
In 1899, the Rules for Wearing of Orders and Medals were established. According to the Rules, Holders of the Order of Saint Alexander Nevsky were not allowed to wear the Star of the Order of the White Eagle and were required to wear the Cross of the Order on the neck below the Crosses of the Order of Saint George, Classes I and II, but above the Order of Saint Vladimir, Class II. Holders of the Order of Saint Andrew were to wear the Cross of the Order of the White Eagle on the breast left to the Order of Saint George and the Order of Saint Vladimir, Class IV. The Badge of Order was to be the size of the buttonhole Badge.
In the wake of the February Revolution of 1917, the Order underwent several changes. The double eagle, for one thing, was deprived of its crowns, while the big Crown was substituted for the bow of Gold coated with blue enamel. The motto 273
